The Memorial Bricks are now in place in the church courtyard. They have been cleaned, thoughtfully arranged, and will soon be cemented in place. Thank you to all those who have worked so hard over the past months to prepare the foundation, carry heavy loads and organize all the details for this space.
We will be offering a brief blessing for these memorials on Sunday, November 1, which is also All Souls/All Saints Day. We will meet in the courtyard at 9:45 am that morning prior to worship. There will be brief prayers, a sprinkled blessing of the bricks, and an opportunity to place small stone of remembrance on the brick of a loved one. (This is inspired by a practice of some faith traditions of leaving small stone on the grave marker when visiting a loved one's resting place.) The small stones will remain on the bricks until the start of Advent (November 29).
